By having a fleet insurance policy for your business’s vehicles, you can renew all of your vehicles insurance at one time and could prove to be cheaper than insuring them separately as you are effectively bulk buying insurance for all of your vehicles.
By covering all of your vehicles under one fleet insurance policy, you also have the opportunity to insure all or multiple drivers to drive one, multiple or any of your vehicles which can help to boost productivity because it saves drivers having to wait around to drive a certain vehicles because they are not covered to drive others.
Levels of Cover
As with normal vehicle insurance, third party insurance for your fleet is a legal requirement. Third party insurance covers you if you happen to damage third party property or injure third party persons whilst in one of your vehicles. Third party insurance will not cover any damages to your vehicle as a result of an accident, nor will it cover any injuries to the driver.
Third Party, Fire and Theft
The next level of cover you may come across is third party fire and theft insurance. This gives you the same cover as third party insurance but also protects you against theft and the event that one or more of your vehicles are set alight. As with third party insurance, injuries suffered in an accident and damages to the vehicle are not covered by third party fire and theft insurance.
The highest level of cover for your fleet is fully comprehensive insurance which is recommended by most insurers. Although this is the most expensive form of cover for your fleet, it also covers you for any injuries sustained in an accident or damages to your vehicle.
Deciding what kind of fleet insurance and what level of cover you need can be complicated. Not all policies are the same, although they may look it. Some covers offer breakdown cover and windscreen protection for example. We, at Trident Business Insurance will make it easier for you and find you the best quote fleet insurance so you don’t need to worry.
