Pub Insurance has been a necessity for years

Pubs and inns have been a part of British life for centuries. Back in medieval times, homemade ales and beer were served from ordinary dwellings, which were often referred to as alehouses. In these situations only the most basic accommodation and food was usually available to customers. Inns of the time were a bit different - these early pubs also often offered lodgings for weary travellers and provided meals. They usually had several specific bedrooms and stables for horses. Taverns were generally more up market than alehouses and inns – they served wine and catered to wealthier patrons. Larger premises that served alcohol often provided entertainment for customers too, usually in the form of plays or cock fighting.

As the years went by, trends in premises that serve alcohol came and went, some enduring and others more transient. It wasn’t until the 18th century that the term public house began to replace alehouse, so the word ‘pub’ is actually relatively recent in the history of serving alcohol. Some pubs and inns in existence today are very old, and have been serving their community and travellers for centuries. The sheer variety of licensed premises allows for a great level of consumer choice – there is sure to be a pub to suit an individual’s tastes. This variety, whilst necessary and beneficial to publicans and their patrons alike, can make finding pub insurance quotes difficult.

For some owners of licensed premises, especially those new to the business, selecting insurance can be a confusing and stressful process. One of the best ways to find the right quote for an individual business is to approach a qualified broker. Brokers know the insurance industry inside out, and recognise policies which contain appropriate cover, and those which have additional features that may not be necessary. They are able to easily identify the best pub insurance quote to suit each premises. Policy quotes will depend on a number of factors, including location of the property, contents and whether food is served. Pubs which provide rooms for customers to stay overnight will also need to take this aspect of business into account. Insurance is to provide peace of mind to business owners, their staff and their customers. In the knowledge that cover is comprehensive and adequate, those running a pub can concentrate on keeping their patrons happy and improving their services.

With the help of a broker, pub insurance quotes can be easily weighed up and the right decision can be made, and pub owners can get a good value policy which meets all their needs. For a great many years, pubs and inns have been popular with all kinds of people. The British public have visited their pubs for socialisation, for food, for shelter, for celebration and of course for a drink!
